Hyatt Place National Harbor Wins 2021 Best New Property Award

OTO Development has received Hyatt’s 2021 Best New Property Award for Hyatt Place National Harbor. The company, which is part of The Johnson Group, was honored during a recent Hyatt Americas Owners Conference in Huntington Beach, California.

Hyatt, one of the world’s leading hospitality companies, annually recognizes top hotel owners, operators and developers with awards in categories such as strategic partner, best renovation, best new hotel and developer of the year. OTO Development was among this year’s select group of award recipients, tapped for the notable opening of its Hyatt Place National Harbor in August 2020.

OTO’s award-winning Hyatt Place is located within the 350-acre shopping, dining and entertainment destination of National Harbor, Maryland. The 7-story, 156-suite property features the brand’s intuitive design, casual atmosphere and practical amenities, all enhanced by lively waterfront views along the Potomac River. The hotel comprises 1,900 square feet of flexible meeting/event space as well as a propriety restaurant, Bar Harbor, which offers vibrant indoor and patio dining.

To develop Hyatt Place National Harbor, OTO partnered with Turner Construction of New York, general contractor, and //3877 of Washington, D.C., architect and interior designer. In addition to winning Hyatt’s 2021 Best New Property Award, this dynamic project has also earned the 2021 Excellence in Safety Award from ENR MidAtlantic and an Award of Excellence from ABC (Associated Builders & Contractors) of Metro Washington.

Hyatt Place National Harbor is one of a dozen Hyatt properties in OTO’s owned and managed portfolios. The company has another Hyatt Place currently under construction in Panama City Beach, Florida, which is expected to open in Q2 2022.
