OTO Development, the developer and owner of the all new Hilton Garden Inn Sunnyvale, appointed two industry veterans with local hospitality ties to serve as the general manager and director of sales for the soon-to-open hotel near downtown.
Dan Romero will lead the team as the general manager, bringing his nearly 15 years of experience with bay area hotels to the new property. Overseeing the sales team will be Danielle Puccinelli, who has experience both in the Silicon Valley hospitality industry and with OTO Development’s other area properties.
“We are thrilled to have Dan and Danielle join the team and lead the opening of the Sunnyvale property,” said Jason Lillge, Regional Director of Operations in the Northwest for OTO Development. “Dan’s experience and relationships in the market will be instrumental in developing our reputation and customer base quickly. With Danielle’s knowledge of both Silicon Valley and our company, she will be a tremendous asset in leading the sales team.”
Romero comes to the new Sunnyvale property after several years with the Sheraton Sunnyvale, where he worked his way from sales manager to serving as the general manager of the property. During his tenure, the hotel continually saw improvements in revenue and guest satisfaction scores. Prior to the Sheraton, Romero served as director of sales and marketing for the Hilton Santa Clara.
“It’s an exciting opportunity to be able to open a brand-new hotel and introduce it to the area,” Romero said. “We have been working hard to not only get the property ready to open, but to build the best customer-oriented team in Silicon Valley. I’m excited to welcome our first guests and start delivering the first-class service our organization is known for.”
Puccinelli comes to the Hilton Garden Inn Sunnyvale with great insider knowledge of the owner’s expectations, having worked at, and helped open, two other OTO Development properties in the Courtyard by Marriott Redwood City and the SpringHill Suites Belmont Redwood Shores. She has served in various sales positions at the two properties, most recently as director of sales for the Belmont property.
“Having helped to open two other properties for OTO Development, I know the incredible amount of work and expertise that goes into each project. I’m very excited to get this new property up and running,” Puccinelli said. “This location in Sunnyvale is going to give us the opportunity to work with the incredible technology companies in the area and bring more business to Sunnyvale.”
The Hilton Garden Inn Sunnyvale will be a 238-room, six-story hotel located at 767 N. Mathilda Ave. The hotel will feature approximately 3,000 square feet of flexible meeting space with the latest A/V and technology capabilities. Kitchen at Peery Park will serve up a creative twist on California cuisine for guests and locals alike and feature craft beer, wine, signature cocktails in the lounge.
The Hilton Garden Inn Sunnyvale is expected to open in late October.
