Company honored for innovation in opening, operating focused service hotels
OTO Development, a Johnson Management company, has been named Hilton’s Developer of the Year in the Focused Service category. The company earned this distinction for four Hilton-branded properties in California that opened in 2016: Hampton Inn & Suites LAX El Segundo, Hampton Inn & Suites Napa, Hilton Garden Inn Burbank Downtown and Hampton Inn & Suites Los Angeles/Santa Monica.
“The OTO team has the talent and patience to develop in the most difficult of markets, then operate with a first-rate property management team,” says Bill Fortier, Hilton’s Senior Vice President, Development, Americas. “Hospitality is not just talk with OTO. It's truly in their DNA.”
OTO Development was recently named Marriott International’s CONNECT Developer of the Year as well.
“While our ultimate goal is a happy, well-rested guest, we strive to over-deliver for our brand partners and management clients, too,” says Corry Oakes, President/CEO of OTO Development. “These two recent Developer of the Year awards -- from two industry giants -- validate our efforts to build excellent hotels staffed by exceptional people.”
The Spartanburg SC-based company has developed more than 60 hotels over the past 13 years in challenging but desirable markets ranging from San Francisco to Manhattan to Washington DC. In addition to developing new hotels, OTO has a long list of managed properties comprising some 8,249 room keys.
"We are thrilled to honor our owner partners and celebrate their passion, creativity and innovative spirit," says Matt Wehling, Hilton’s Senior Vice President, Development, U.S. & Canada, who announced OTO’s Focused Service Developer of the Year Award during the NYU International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference in early June.
